FAQ
Who do you work with?
I work with adults and couples navigating anxiety, depression, grief and loss, life transitions, relationship concerns, stress, identity questions, career transitions, perfectionism, burnout, and work-life balance challenges. I enjoy supporting young and mid-career professionals, healthcare professionals, aviation professionals, frequent travelers, individuals in unique or demanding careers, couples, and newlyweds seeking stronger communication and deeper connection.
Do I have to be in crisis to benefit from therapy?
Not at all. While therapy can provide support during difficult seasons, many people seek therapy because they want to better understand themselves, strengthen their relationships, navigate life transitions, manage stress, or build healthier patterns before challenges become overwhelming. Therapy can be a space for healing, personal growth, and greater self-awareness at any stage of life.
I've never been to therapy before. Is that okay?
Absolutely. Many of my clients are beginning therapy for the first time. Your first session is simply an opportunity for us to get to know one another, talk about what brings you in, and discuss what you're hoping to gain from therapy. There is no "right" way to begin, and we'll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. My goal is to create a warm, supportive space where you feel heard, understood, and comfortable asking questions throughout the process.
How do I know if we're the right fit?
Finding the right therapist is an important part of the therapeutic process. During our complimentary 15-minute consultation, we'll discuss what brings you to therapy, your goals, and whether my approach feels like a good fit for your needs. If I believe another provider or level of care would better support you, I'm always happy to discuss those options and help guide you toward the resources that best meet your needs.
What can I expect during my first therapy session?
Therapy is a space dedicated to understanding yourself more deeply and creating meaningful change. Together, we'll explore your experiences, clarify your goals, recognize your existing strengths, and develop practical tools that support the life and relationships you want to build. My approach is collaborative, warm, and tailored to your unique needs.
What therapeutic approaches do you use?
My work is grounded in a person-centered approach and informed by:
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
- Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
- Gottman Method Couples Therapy
Every client is unique, and I tailor therapy to your goals, preferences, and experiences.
Are sessions virtual?
Yes. All sessions are conducted through a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform, allowing you to attend from the comfort and privacy of your own space.
What states do you serve?
I currently provide virtual therapy services to clients located in Illinois and Washington, DC, where I am licensed to practice. Clients must be physically located in Illinois or Washington, DC, at the time of their session.
Where should I take my telehealth session?
For the best experience, I recommend joining your session from a private, quiet location where you feel comfortable speaking openly. Many clients participate from home, a private office, or another confidential space. A reliable internet connection and a device with a camera and microphone are all you'll need.
What are the expectations for telehealth sessions?
Clients are expected to attend sessions from a private, quiet location with a stable internet connection where they can participate without interruptions or distractions. Clients should not attend sessions while driving or in situations where privacy cannot be reasonably maintained.
How long are sessions?
Intake sessions are 60 minutes. Ongoing individual and couples therapy sessions are typically 53–55 minutes in length.
How often will we meet?
Most therapy clients begin with weekly sessions. As our work progresses, we can adjust the frequency based on your goals, progress, and preferences. Relationship coaching sessions are scheduled based on your goals, stage of relationship, timeline, and availability.
Do you accept insurance?
Sienna Stone Counseling & Wellness does not participate in any insurance networks. A superbill can be provided upon request for clients who wish to seek possible reimbursement through their out of network benefits.
What are your session rates?
Individual Therapy
Intake Session (60 minutes): $200
Ongoing Session (53–55 minutes): $185
Couples Therapy
Intake Session (60 minutes): $250
Ongoing Session (53–55 minutes): $225
What happens if I miss my appointment?
If you have not joined your scheduled telehealth session within five (5) minutes, one email reminder will be sent. If you have not joined within fifteen (15) minutes of your scheduled appointment time and have not contacted the practice, the appointment will be considered a no-show. The session will be canceled, and a $185 no-show fee will be charged to the payment method on file.
What is your recurring appointment policy?
To provide consistent access to care and effectively manage the practice schedule, clients with a recurring appointment who accumulate three (3) missed appointments, including no-shows or late cancellations, may forfeit their reserved weekly appointment time. Clients are welcome to continue scheduling appointments based on availability, but a recurring appointment time cannot be guaranteed.
Can I request letters or documentation?
Requests for clinical summaries, Emotional Support Animal (ESA) letters, disability paperwork, FMLA documentation, and other letters or forms will be completed only when clinically appropriate and within the therapist's professional judgment. Completion of documentation is not guaranteed and may require one or more appointments to assess the request. Additional fees apply for the time required to prepare, review, and complete documentation.
Can therapy sessions be recorded or transcribed using AI?
To protect the privacy and confidentiality of the therapeutic relationship, audio or video recording of therapy sessions by either the client or therapist is prohibited without the prior written consent of both parties. The use of artificial intelligence (AI) applications—including AI note-taking, transcription, recording, or other AI-assisted technologies during therapy sessions—is also prohibited unless expressly authorized in writing by both the therapist and client. Unauthorized recording or use of AI technologies may result in termination of services if deemed clinically appropriate.
How can I contact the practice?
The secure client portal is the preferred way to communicate about your care. For scheduling or administrative questions, you may contact the practice through the client portal, by email, or by phone at (619) 935-5851. Voicemails are returned within 1–2 business days.
Please do not use email or voicemail for clinical concerns, urgent matters, or emergencies, as these methods are not monitored continuously.
If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, call 911, go to your nearest emergency department, or contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
